These terms are the rules for using Bazaaru (bazaaru.app), run by Bazaaru, Malé, Maldives. By creating an account or posting a listing you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.

1. What Bazaaru is

Bazaaru is a place where people and businesses in the Maldives post listings to sell, give away or look for things, and talk to each other. Bazaaru is not the buyer or seller. We do not own, check, store, send or pay for the items, and we are not part of the deal between you and the other person.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or use Bazaaru with a parent's permission.
  • Use your real name, your own email and your own phone number. One person may have one private account.
  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Your seller ID (for example BZ-482913) is public, so buyers can find your listings.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account.

3. Listings

  • Only post things that are real, that you own or may sell, and that you have now.
  • Describe the item honestly, including damage. Use your own photos.
  • Choose the right category and the island where the item really is.
  • Do not post the same item many times. Mark it as sold when it is gone.
  • "Wanted" listings must be for something you really want to buy.
  • You keep the rights to your photos and text, and you allow Bazaaru to show them on Bazaaru and in its apps while the listing is online.

4. Not allowed on Bazaaru

Anything that is illegal in the Maldives is not allowed. For example:

  • Alcohol, pork and pork products, and anything else that may not be sold in the Maldives
  • Drugs, medicines that need a prescription, and drug equipment
  • Vapes, e-cigarettes and their liquids and parts (banned in the Maldives since December 2024), and tobacco, shisha and cigarettes (Bazaaru can not check the age of the buyer)
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, spearguns, stun guns and parts of them
  • Dogs and dangerous animals
  • Pornography and sexual services
  • Idols or objects for worship, and anything that insults Islam or any person
  • Animals or animal parts that are protected, including turtles, turtle shell, sharks, rays and coral
  • Stolen, fake or copied goods, and items you do not own
  • Documents: ID cards, passports, licences, bank cards, SIM cards registered to someone else
  • Accounts, passwords and personal data of other people
  • Gambling, lotteries, pyramid schemes and "get rich" offers
  • Jobs or offers that ask the other person to pay first

Also not allowed: spam, misleading prices, links to other selling sites, and asking people to pay outside a real deal.

5. Buying and selling

  • The deal is between the buyer and the seller. You agree the price, payment, pickup or ferry sending yourselves.
  • Look at the item before you pay. Meet in a public place or at the jetty. See our safety tips.
  • When sending by ferry, agree in the chat who pays the fare and what happens if the item is lost or damaged.
  • Businesses selling on Bazaaru must follow the consumer and tax rules that apply to them.

  • Bump, Highlight, TOP and Featured make a listing easier to see. They do not promise a sale.
  • Current prices: Bump MVR 15, Highlight MVR 25, TOP MVR 49, Featured MVR 99. Highlight, TOP and Featured run for 7 days.
  • You pay by bank transfer and upload the slip. The promotion starts when we have confirmed the payment.
  • If we can not confirm a payment we tell you why. If we remove your listing because it breaks these terms, the promotion ends and is not refunded.
  • If a promotion could not run because of a fault on our side, we give you the days again or refund you.

7. Messages

  • Use messages only to talk about listings. No spam, threats, insults or advertising.
  • Never send passwords, bank PINs or one-time codes. Bazaaru will never ask you for them.
  • You can block anyone. We may read messages that are reported to us to stop scams and abuse.

8. When we remove things

To keep Bazaaru safe we may hide or delete listings, end promotions, and block accounts that break these terms or the law, or that people report as scams. Where it is safe to do so, we tell you the reason. If you think we made a mistake, write to us.

9. Responsibility

We work to keep Bazaaru running and safe, but we can not check every listing or person, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for the items, the deals between users, or losses from them. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law.

10. Changes

We may change these terms. When the changes are important we show a notice on Bazaaru before they start. The date at the top shows the latest version.

These terms follow the laws of the Republic of Maldives.

Advertising on Bazaaru

Companies that advertise on Bazaaru agree to these terms, also this part about ads.

These rules are for businesses that advertise on Bazaaru, as an ad card in the app or as a partner logo on the website. Ads are run by Bazaaru, Malé, Maldives.

How ads look

  • Every ad is marked Ad with the advertiser's name.
  • Ads link to the advertiser's own website or page. Clicks go through Bazaaru so we can count them.
  • Members with a monthly plan do not see ads.

What may be advertised

  • Real products and services that are legal in the Maldives.
  • The ad must say clearly who the advertiser is.
  • Prices and offers in the ad must be true and available.

Not allowed in ads

  • Ads that target or are made for children.
  • Misleading health, money or "get rich" promises.

Booking and payment

  • Write to info@bazaaru.app with the dates, places and pictures you want.
  • We send the price. Payment is by bank transfer before the ad starts.
  • We may say no to any ad, and we may stop an ad that breaks these rules. If we stop an ad that followed the rules, we refund the days that were not shown.
  • We share the number of views and clicks with the advertiser. We do not share data about our members.
